ACUPUNCTURE PHYSICAL MEDICINE

Not all acupuncture is the same.

Acupuncturists develop specific skills and expertise depending on their aptitudes, experience and interests.

There are many subspecialties within the general category of “Chinese Medicine”.  The two broadest divisions are those of “Internal” medicine and “Physical” medicine.

The practice of internal medicine refers to the treatment of problems relating to the lungs, kidneys, liver, heart, digestive system, circulatory system and endocrine system (among others).  There is usually a primary emphasis on herbal medicine in treating organic disorders and acupuncture is used adjunctively.

My personal experience, after 16 years of practice, is that acupuncture truly excels in treating physical medical problems.  By physical medicine I am referring to problems involving the muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones, discs, joints etc. - the kinds of problems people most often think of seeing an orthopedist, physical therapist, chiropractor, athletic trainer or a sports medicine specialist for.  This is especially true if treatment is administered by an acupuncturist specifically trained to assess and correct these problems. The art of assessment and treatment is a cultivated skill, which continues to develop over many years.

When you receive treatment in my office you will experience a level of skill in both the assessment and treatment of “Physical Medical Problems” that is unique in the Capital District area.

The following are conditions which I have extensive experience in treating successfully:
